A public conflict between Elon Musk and Donald Trump led to a sudden drop in the price of bitcoin to $100,000. According to ForkLog, the dispute sparked panic among investors and a massive sell-off of crypto assets. The incident began after Trump criticized Musk for supporting Web3 and “undermining the traditional financial order.” In response, Musk posted several messages on X (formerly Twitter), calling Trump a “technophobe” and a “threat to digital progress.” The exchange quickly went viral in the media and shook the market. According to Binance, bitcoin fell more than 8% within the first hour, with over $200 billion wiped from total market capitalization. Analysts attribute the market's reaction to the high influence both figures have in the crypto space. Trump had earlier expressed plans to tighten crypto regulation, while Musk is known for promoting decentralization. As of publication, the market has partly stabilized, though volatility remains high.
